We ordered the bus ticket for our group of 20 persons well in advance. Upon arrival at the ticket office in Ercolano Scavi there was no bus waiting for our group. Staff at the ticket office was not very helpful. With delay, a bus came but we hardly had enough room for all participants of our group.

The driver was great on the roads - he did a fantastic job. Well worth the money!

A must do when in Naples

Little information given in advance - no information as to how long the drive is (30-40 mins each way) and how much time you get at the top ( 1 hr 50 min).
Also it was not clear that the admission to the hiking route was not included. It was very difficult to buy the ticket at the site - had to be done online - and the website was difficult to navigate. A lot of people were in the same boat and like us had to ask the staff working the entrance gate for help.

For this price it was really a great service. Everything was well organized and we had a good driver. There is just one thing I have to criticise: That we do not know how much time we will have up there on the ,beforehand. Just when we arrived, the driver told us to catch us up within two hours. This is not much time and you just can get up, take some photos and return. You cannot do the round tour. It would be better, if the return time would be handled more flexibly. Of course this is difficult to organize. Consequently I do recommend VE to others, but if they need more time I tell them to return via public bus.

Der Busfahrer hat uns die falsche Uhrzeit für die Rückfahrt mitgeteilt. Da der Bus schon mit Verspätung am Vesuv ankam, hatten wir nur etwas mehr als eine Stunde zu Besichtigung und sollten dann wieder am Parkplatz sein. Der Bus kam aber erst eine Stunde später zur Abholung. Das war sehr ärgerlich.

The meeting point is easy to find from Ercolano station, literally right outside. Transfer to and from Vesuvius was on time and took the specified 30 mins. I cannot fault this service.

Everything went perfectly. Information about being a round trip on same bus at a designated time would have been useful. But very well organized for an unorganized and chaotic region.

Everything worked smooth: I bought my tickets online, showed them to the driver (no print required), hop'd on the bus. The bus driver was experienced, navigated the curves like a pro. One thing I would improve is the total allowed time at the peak: 2h is a bit rushed, 3h would've been better. The climb itself isn't too heavy but it takes some time walk-up (~20-25 min) and come back down, I would've spent more time at the peak.

The driver of the big bus was puro Italian - handled the drive like a professional, wasted no time, was calculating and safe managing the curves and blind spots, and got us there safely. The organizer was on point, good communicator and a fun loving cool guy.

The bus was comfortable and I felt secure riding up those winding mountain roads. Getting on and off was easy and stress-free enough. It gave me just the right amount time I needed to see and experience Mount Vesuvius. Worth the buck!

So time table is just a piece of paper I guess. We were supposed to leave at 9am and we finally got on our way 9:20am. So if you plan to book Vesuvius pass on your own definitely recommend to have time gap. Overall journey was safe with some additional fun fact and historical informations on our way from driver.

The staff at the info desk seemed rushed and weren't particularly helpful or willing to answer basic questions, leaving several passengers confused about what to expect.

However, once past the desk, the actual service was fantastic: the bus was clean, comfortable, air-conditioned, and departed promptly once boarding began; the driver was professional and handled the narrow, winding mountain roads with ease.

Despite the unhelpful desk service at the start, the transport itself is the easiest and most convenient way to reach the crater from Ercolano. Recommended, just make sure to research your park entry tickets and schedule beforehand!

The service was correct, on time and efficient. The available time to hike the Volcán was to short for me. I would prefer to have additional 30 minutes to enjoy the crater and the views.

The trip up was easy and cool, the trip down was a bun fight to get on a bus and the air conditioning poured water (I hope!) on us the whole way. My advice be determined and grab a seat and do not get off if it’s heading in the right direction even if they try to get you to wait for the next one!
But it’s easy enough and leaves from right outside the train station.

I was disappointed with the Vesuvio Express shuttle service. The website states shuttles run every 30–40 minutes, but in reality the afternoon return shuttles from the crater were two hours apart. I had planned my visit around the advertised frequency, yet upon arrival I was told the next shuttle wouldn’t leave for two hours. No reduced service or delays were mentioned when booking. The website information is misleading and needs updating so travellers can plan accurately.

Need to make VERY clear that some tickets DO NOT include access to Vesuvius. I found the website unclear and we ended up having a bus transfer halfway up Vesuvius, but the ticket did not allow access to the top! Why would we want a trip only halfway?? We could buy a ticket at the bus stop halfway up Vesuvius but there was no signal and we had to register for the WiFi and it was VERY VERY difficult. Our credit card was refused and we had no email ‘ verification’ for a time. Extremely frustrating. One tourist near us had tried 7 times and was still unable to access Vesuvius. Not your fault but if we had known we would have purchased tickets that included Vesuvius as that was the reason we were there. Please make it VERY clear on your website that they need access to ‘the park’ when buying tickets!!!

The gentleman who drove us up was courteous, funny but most importantly, safe. The woman that drove us down was less chatty but again we felt very safe. Both buses were clean and cooled adequately.

This service gets you to the start of the walk as described. The staff were not particularly friendly, the bus driver was involved in a discussion with someone, so we were late setting off, the bus seats were all ripped but we got to the start of the walk.
So I guess it’s functional but not fun.

The bus stop is well located, right outside Ercolano station. However, we booked a 9am bus and arrived at the bus stop at 8.55am but the 9am bus has already left early. Luckily there were spaces on the 9.30am bus but some who also missed the 9am bus had to wait until at least 11am. We would recommend to arrive at the bus stop 30 mins before to ensure you get on the bus.

I didn't like the fact that the departure time was changed from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM without my consent. This reduced the visit to Vesuvius from 2 hours to 1.5 hours. This shouldn't be done. We had to rush and barely made it back in time. I paid for 2 hours and got 1.5 hours. That is unfair.

The two-hour window allotted by the organizer—from the moment of getting off the bus to returning to it—is definitely too short. Climbing the volcano takes at least 30 minutes for a fit person, and the descent takes just as long; having only an hour at the top is simply not enough time.

The bus came on time, took us to the mountain that part was great, but the bus was a bit run down - there were seats where seat belt plug in was not working. That's the only thing that I could say that was a little wrong. Otherwise - great service. Thank you!

Generalnie wszystko ok, transport przebiegł sprawnie, ale nie zgodnie z zarezerwowaną godziną. Jedna gwiazdkę zabieram za to, że zmieniono nam godzinę odjazdu autobusu z powodu braku kompletu pasażerów, co było bardzo uciążliwe ponieważ mieliśmy już wykupione bilety wstępu na konkretną godzinę na Wezuwiusza. Odjazd mieliśmy wykupiony na godz. 16:00 później przełożono nam na 16:30 i drugi raz na 17:00 przez co mieliśmy minimalną ilość czasu na zwiedzenie Wezuwiusza przed zamknięciem szlaku. Firma nie odpisywała na moje wiadomości w których prosiłam o przywrócenie pierwotnej rezerwacji busika, wysłałam do nich dwa maile oraz wiadomość na messengerze, cisza.

We feel that what we purchased was a huge disappointment and, frankly, a complete rip-off.

At no point during the booking process or before boarding the bus were we clearly informed that the ticket we purchased was only a bus ticket and did not include entrance to Mount Vesuvius. Since we booked the last available time slot, we were not even able to purchase entrance tickets to the volcano on site.

As a result, we found ourselves standing in the parking area at Mount Vesuvius with our four children between approximately 5:30 and 7:00 p.m., with no way to enter the site and no meaningful assistance from your staff. The representative/guide present at the location did not help us at all and instead blamed us for the situation.

This raises a very simple question: Why did nobody warn us about this when we boarded the bus? If we had been informed in advance that we needed a separate entrance ticket and that tickets might no longer be available for the time of our visit, we would obviously have made different arrangements.

Who would knowingly choose to spend an evening standing in the parking lot of Mount Vesuvius with four children?

We are extremely angry and disappointed by the way this situation was handled. We expected a professional and reliable service, especially because ChatGPT recommended your company as one of the first options when we were looking for a service provider. This gave us the impression that we were dealing with a trustworthy and reputable company.

Instead, our experience was extremely frustrating, and we feel that the service was misleading and poorly organized. We will, of course, share our experience in a Google review and rate the service accordingly.

The Vesuvio Express was a great way to get to the Mt. Vesuvius parking lot to start the climb to the crater. Transportation made things easy, and it was stress-free. This was a reasonable a cost for the bus.

I booked tickets online in advance, which was very straight forward. We found the office right outside the Hurculaneum train station, it cannot be missed. The coach arrived on time, we boarded and were greeted by a friendly driver. The driver pointed out various points of interest along the way and made a quick stop for views of the Bay of Naples. We were given very clear instructions before departure about where and when to meet for the journey back, which again was on time. It was a perfect solution to get to the park. I would highly recommend to any other visitors. Thank you ☺️

I hay a booking for 11.00, made 1 month in advance, with a Vesubio park entrance for 11.40. (Supposedly, this bus takes 30 mins). Without any reason, and a few days before the activity, they changed the time to 11.30. When I contacted them asking for an explanation, they told me "Don't worry madam, the park entrance time allows 2 hours delay, so until 13.40 you can entry".
Ok.
In the day of the activity, we take the train from Naples that should leave us at the Vesubio Express departure point at 11.20. At 11.10 I can notice the train is slow, even stopped in some middleplace, and that its going to arrive late, around 11.40. I write to Vesubio Express to communicate this and asking them to wait 10 minutes, so I don't loose the par entrance fee.
No answer.
Me and my 2 kids arrive 11.40 to the place and the bus is departed.
They tell me, " don't worry madam, you take the 13.00 bus. 13.30 you will arrive, still in time for park entrance".
Ok.
So 100 minutes waiting in the middle of nowhere later, we depart on the 13.00 bus. Which is also slow, has troubles departing etc... and arrives 13.45.
So.
The guardian at the park gate tells me our 3 e tickets are due, past time, and cannot enter! I ask the driver to tell the guards taht he was late and wxplain the thing, and he tells me it's all my fault, and that I should buy new tickets, and leaves in very bad manners.
So.
I have two choices. Stay in the parking lot 2 hours under the sun, or buy new tickets. So 30 euros and 2 hours later, we get to the top. By the way one of the gate guards was extremely nice and helpful.
I WOULD NEVER IN MY LIFE RECOMMEND THIS VESUBIO EXPRESS SERVICE. USE ANOTHER ONE, there are plenty.

Went start of July 2026, easy process, coach left right outside Herculaneum train station, then takes you right up to furthest you can drive, and then a 45 minute walk up to the top at your leisure. Great views on way up as well. Plenty of time to walk up and back, and then coach back to the station again. Very efficient, cost-effective transfer process, no issues at all.

It was a perfect way to get to the crator. Left on time. They further clearly indicated the time to board the bus after the hike. The transport allowed about two and a half hours for the hike. I would do it again if I was to see the summit.

On time there and back and offers better options to explore vesuvius especially in the evening, since the normal bus doesnt allow you to return if you visit vesuvius too late.

Also the normal city bus drove off without picking us up once, so this was much more reliable.

We had tickets for the entry to the volcano in advance, but they also offer tickets if you need them as a package deal with the drive up.

In addition we got a few small stops for sightseeing and taking pictures along the drive up, as well as a few fun facts about the volcano.

Overall not expensive and good value, the bus was air conditioned and clean.

A terrible experience. The driver took us to the park entrance but, as the weather was bad, he brought us back to Erculano. Without saying a single word. No one from the organisers offered us any explanation or the chance to return at another time, free of charge. Do not recomend.

Very efficient between Ercolano and Vesuvio. Quickly mode to reach Vesuvio from Ercolano. Stay at Vesuvio a little bit short 90 min but it's ok. Departure time changed for 30 minuts about two weeks after we bought tickets.
When we got off at Vrsuvio, driver told us that we can use later bus at 3 o´clock. But when the bus camer, driver left us there and left place empty. So finally we had to use public transport to way back.
The guy from company at Vesuvio was unpolite and did not helped us.

This was a good solution for us to hike Vesuvius from Herculaneum. The bus was on time, the driver was friendly, and everything went as planned. It was a lot easier than having to get to Pompeii to take the public bus.

I had purchased tickets from Ercolano to Mount Vesuvius. However, the train from Naples to Ercolano did not stop in Ercolano, even though we asked for information three times at Naples station and were always directed to take the same train.

As a result, we continued to Pompeii and took a public bus from there. That part worked perfectly fine.

However, after arriving at Mount Vesuvius from Pompeii and later wanting to return to Ercolano, we encountered several problems with the Vesuvio Express service. We were initially refused a ride, even though we were still within the valid time window of our booking. We were then told that the next bus to Ercolano would leave in two hours. Later, we were told it would be in one hour, while another bus left without us.

In the end, we lost the money we had paid for the transfer and found that the public transportation system was much faster and more reliable for getting back to Pompeii.

Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this service. The public buses worked much better and were far more reliable.

Easy service for those wanting to walk up.mount vesuvius. My daughter and I had a great time. It is very much a safe (apart from the heat) tourist trail to see the crater and view. Easy to book and get the coach up. BTW the coach wasn't sure conditioned and it is a windy journey down. Just bear in mind go early in the day if you can as there is no shade of course :)

The driver was very friendly, and the staff at the reception were very accommodating when we arrived 35 minutes late for our shuttle. We felt safe throughout the journey despite the sharp and tight curves.

However, there were organized groups in the transport with us. The driver made additional stops along the way so people could take photos, and we were made to wait unnecessarily for the guides to arrive before being let off. In the end, we arrived at Mount Vesuvius an hour and a half late (the ticket allows up to one hour of delay). This was stressful for us because we didn't want to miss our chance to climb it.

Bus for going up/down to Vesuvius. Correct, on time, and easy to get to (you leave the station and it's just outside on the right, or you may buy the ticket on the left).
Now, about the driving: the driver was friendly and drove, in general, well, but... still, they could try to stop honking the horn all the time.

Interestingly, we went up behind other buses, and came down behind another one as well. None of them honked, except our driver, who, despite being in the middle of other buses, didn't stop at every turn.

Maybe he was an old-school Italian.
In short, everything was fine, good price, unless you take the public bus, which is better, but please, leave the horn at home.

It is a bit expensive (especially for a group). The entrance and the ticket for the transfer are two different tickets, be careful, you have to have the two tickets with 40 minutes in between the bus and the entrance. They were on time and they let us two hours to visit the Vesuvio, then they came back to pick us ut with the bus and bring us back to Ercolano. The driver did a good job as it is not so easy to drive on these roads with bus and cars coming up and down. I did not find any other options in Ercolano for a group of 20 people.

Taktika: trub nebo budeš vytrouben. Parkoviště u Vesuvu chaos, ale dostali jsme lístek s časem odjezdu, a i když to vypadalo zase neproveditelně, odjeli jsme. Two hours in a torrential downpour, with nowhere to take shelter. Crowds of people—and buses driving down the mountain completely empty. It makes no sense.

We had booked a bus from Ercolano for 2:00 p.m. However, due to the Pope’s visit to Pompeii and the resulting traffic jams and disruption to public transport, we missed the bus departure by 10 minutes. The lady at the office was very understanding and had no problem rebooking us for 3:00 p.m.

The journey both ways was smooth and safe. At the top, the meeting time was clearly communicated. The time at the summit was sufficient to walk the entire route at a comfortable pace, take photos, and buy souvenirs.

In short, we highly recommend this carrier’s services.

Booking was smooth. Appreciate the option to add the ticket to apple wallet. The bus stop is right in front of the train stop and quite easy to find. Departure was on time. My biggest issue is the two hour window until departure, would appreciate more time, ideally custom time slot for the way back.

But they should tell the clients, that it is nearly impossible to get tickets for Vesuvio at the entrance to Vesuvio.

Highly recommend - we missed the bus we were scheduled to take and would have missed our timeslot for entering Mount Vesuvius, so they drove us to meet the bus part way - saving the day for us completely.

We were promised two hours at the top of the volcano, but only got one hour and twenty minutes. Also, some people weren't allowed to go up to the volcano, because they had sold too many tickets.

Very good transport service to Vesuvius. From Naples, we took the train from Garibaldi Station to Ercolano. The bus takes passengers directly from the station straight to Vesuvius. Enough time was planned there before the departure. The bus was punctual. You can only recommend this service.

We were transported by Angela, who was friendly, courteous and we felt safe with her at the wheel. Some other aspects could have been improved such as the drop-off and pick up in the mountain car park, things were quite chaotic there and could have been managed better by the team members running that part.

The site is misleading it let us believe that you are buying a complete visit. In fact you only buy a bus travel without entrance in the park. I paid then read in detail, too late for me. I didn't go to the bus ...

The website clearly states that visitors have 2 hours to explore the volcano, but this was not the case. In reality, we only had about 1 hour and 20 minutes on site. We left at 16:10 and arrived around 16:40.
The driver was friendly and pointed out scenic viewpoints along the way, which was appreciated. However, once we arrived, we were told to be back at the bus by 18:00. We actually left at 18:10 and arrived back in Herculaneum at 18:45.
It is true that the last departure mentioned on the website coincides with the volcano’s closing time, but while the volcano officially closes, visitors are still allowed to remain inside for a short while. Because of this timing, we had to rush our visit to avoid missing the bus, especially since the descent is quite challenging.
Overall, the experience felt shorter than advertised and could be better communicated on the website.

I am satisfied with the service. The schedule was strictly followed. The staff is polite and helpful. The buses are in decent condition.

We had an excellent experience with Vesuvio Express. Everything went perfectly—we had no issues with the booking or during the activity, and everything ran exactly on time as agreed. We had a very nice trip. The travel from Ercolano to the Vesuvius is an expereince itself with fantastic views. The driver had a little problem with his chair which cause a slight delay, but overal a good trip.

I arrived a few minutes later and the bus had already departed, but they had it wait in the road and took me to meet them by car, free of charge. Rest of the trip went smootly. 2 hours to climb and descend, wich is more than enough time. Very punctual. 100% recommended.

Multi generational group. My 11 year old wanted to hike Vesuvius. My 81 year old mother did not. Note, there is no where for a non hiker to wait at the start of the hike and it is about 10 degrees cooler once you get to the start. I was really glad I didn't have to leave my mother sitting on a curb in the cold. Thankfully, I left her in Ercolano and she went into the museum and sat in a cafe. However, it is really too bad that there is no option for a non hiker to go in the bus to the start because the view is wonderful and really gives you some perspective on how an erupting Vesuvius covered Pompeii and Herculaneum after being in those sites.
The trip itself was great. Bus drivers lovely. Took about 20 minutes to hike up.... for an out of shape 54 year old.

The transfer was on time. There was no inconvenience. Actually, I had made a mistake when booking my transfer, choosing a wrong date, but the staff were very helpful and understanding, and my ticket was rescheduled in the office in Ercolano.

Bus is decent and on time, relatively short ride with a very good and friendly driver. Easy booking, reasonable price and nice staff at the entry point. No problems at all, everything works fine. However, I have to remove one star for the terrible experience at Vesuvio itself. The parking lot looks like in a third world country, everything is fenced like in a prison compound, super arrogant and unfriendly staff at the entry, no information, no infrastructure whatsoever, nowhere to sit down, no decent café or restaurant, just a shitty rotten souvenir shop that no one needs, no mobile reception and, worst of all, no public toilets anywhere despite thousands of people visiting every day. You really don't know what you even pay an entry fee for. Come on, you can do better than that!

Very good solution to go to the vesuvio by your own means. The Express is just at the exit of the railway station. The bus let you at the beginning of the path. 2h to go up and down is a good duration. I recommend.

Even if the traffic was not a problem, the way back was very delayed (1h) and there was some issue with the passengers which delayed even more our way back. That was unfortunate as we wanted to do some other thing during the afternoon.

We booked four tickets online two days before. When we arrived at the bus stop, we were told that the bus was full. Do they overbook? We had to wait an hour for the next bus, which was 10 minutes late. Hopefully our entry ticket to the Vesuvio was still valid for 120 minutes.
Also, the "Transfer + Ticket Entry" package for Vesuvio is overpriced. The package costs 30 euros, but the two tickets cost only 24 euros in total (12 euros for the transfer and 12 euros for the entry ticket).

There are more bookings than seats.

It is basically the only transfer option to and from Vesuvius; however, booking a specific time is not guaranteed even though you fully paid for a specific time slot, and the company can unilaterally modify the schedule even if you have already secured a park entrance ticket. While everything ultimately worked out, the schedule changes caused unnecessary stress. I experienced this twice during my short one-week trip to Italy.. something that would be unthinkable in North America but appears to be more culturally acceptable in Italy.

Service rendu basique, le service est fait, mais rien de plus. Le personnel est quant à lui soit non émotif (mais pas désagréable), soit antipathique (pour la deuxième personne étant à l'accueil quand nous sommes redescendu). Attention, ils proposent le billet du Vésuve sans service supplémentaire, vous pouvez l'acheter par vous même pour moins cher. Enfin, le service de taxi privé de l'agence est exorbitant niveau prix. Celà vaut tout juste la moyenne au plus (on est sympa en ayant noté 3/5). La possibilité de déposer le bagage à coût correct à ce sujet nous a incité à rehausser la note.

Rien à dire sur le transport (un bus un peu ancien) qui part pile à l'heure prévue (tant à Ercolano qu'au Vésuve pour le retour). Mention spéciale au chauffeur qui est un as du volant (compte tenu de la route avec de nombreux lacets que nous avons empruntée). Le parking où l'on dépose les voyageurs se situe à 1000 m d'altitude, le reste se fait à pied.
Du coup, le temps imparti sur le Vésuve est beaucoup trop court: 1h15 au total sur le volcan (pour monter, descendre et reprendre la même navette qui nous a déposés). Sachant qu'il faut 30 minutes pour monter à pied et un peu moins pour descendre, autant dire que le temps dédié aux photos et à chiller est très limité.
Sinon, solution pratique et tout en un.

Nous avons eu un problème de transport avec les trains. Nous avons quand même réussi à rejoindre l’entrée du Vésuve. Malheureusement nous avions 8 minutes de retard. L’entrée nous a été refusée par une personne, d’une manière très méchante, sans aucune compassion. Nous avons été choqués. Seul l’argent compte aujourd’hui, pas les êtres humains.

Réservation en ligne sans soucis et malgrè un retard de notre part, nous avons pris la navette suivante sans problème.

The transfer to Vesuvio was excellent. The driver knows his bus and its dimensions very well. A pleasant drive. On the way back, there was someone missing and the driver made sure everyone was actually on board.

What is less pleasant is the constant mailing I received since then, which for its persistence, takes away one star in what would otherwise be a five star rating. Every day stalking for a review, and loads of extra emails is NOT what I signed up for.

So, yes, a pleasant experience, but make use of a temperoray emailaddress or get spammed.

It's mo vry puntually. We left Herculaneum almost 15 minutes late. On the way back, I just missed the bus! It left Vesuvius 2 minutes before the scheduled time.

Easy to find, toilets available next to the ticket office, plenty of time allowed to go up and down Vesuvius. Also to avoid confusion with other coach transfers there is a Vesuvius Express official at the Vesuvius coach park ensuring everyone gets on the right coach they've paid for.

Bonne expérience avec Vesuvio express. Contrairement à certains avis tout s'est bien déroulé. J'avais réservé les billets en ligne. Le bus était au rdv( 5 mn de retard à peine). Une fois arrivés nous avons eu rdv 2h après pour le retour, même endroit et même chauffeur. Impeccable.

De passage dans le coin, c'est forcément un intournable à faire avec Pompeii. La vue d'en haut est splendide, le lieu saisissant et on ne peut s'empêcher de faire le parallèle à l'histoire après avoir visité Pompeii.

The ride to Vesuvius was right on time. The proposed return trip was a disaster. Despite an announcement that the bus would depart exactly at 5:30 pm, the bus rolled out of the parking lot at 5:25 pm as we were approaching. Five of us were stranded and had to take a public bus back and then had to walk about a mile to the train station. In all, we wasted over two hours of our time. As an aside, the bus drivers that we met who worked for the company were rather rude. If you have other options to get to Vesuvius, I would avoid Vesuvio Express. I wrote a polite message to the company about all of this, but they never even bothered to respond.

Salire sul Vesuvio è un'esperienza fantastica e farlo con Vesuvio Express è il modo più semplice.
Unica pecca è il tempo a disposizione... Una volta raggiunto con il pullman l'ingresso dell'area protetta l'autista ti lascia a disposizione circa 1 ora e mezza per la visita. Raggiungere la sommità però non è semplicissimo e vedere il gran cono da varie angolazioni ti fa perdere del tempo. Si deve fare il tutto con una certa fretta per paura di rimanere a piedi.

The bus was confortable and access was fast (about 30 minutes to get to the parking area on Vesuvio).
But it is expensive (48 € for 2 adults and 2 children).
The time on Vesuvio was sufficient (2 hours) but the bus was a little bit late (we had to wait 30 minutes).

The shuttle stop is located directly in front of the Ercolano station, so you can't miss it! The buses run on time, and if you arrive early, there's a chance to board an earlier bus than the one you booked. The same applies when returning from Vesuvio; if you miss your bus, you can take the next one, provided there are seats available. Overall, it's a great service.

Le trajet en car aller et retour depuis Ercolano s'est bien passé.
Le temps laissé de deux heures en haut est suffisant pour monter faire la balade au cratère et revenir.
Rappel : il faut impérativement avoir son billet d'entrée au Vésuve en plus de ce transport en car .
Je regrette seulement qu'il n'y ait pas un tarif réduit pour les enfants.

The office was easy to find (next to the train station), the buses were clean and comfy (albeit not all seatbelts worked), and the driver was informative as we drove up the volcano road. Two hours was a good length of time for the hike. We were told to be prompt for the return journey but the bus was late by about 15min minutes meaning that we all missed the train by 2min.

Overall, everything was fine. It was easy to book. The coach ride was fast, safe, and comfortable. Our driver was fantastic. The only downside was the attitude of the woman working in the office. She was unkind when I asked additional questions.

I stayed in Naples and took the train to Ercolano Scavi and shortly after boarded the Vesuvius Express. It was on time with a awesome, fun driver that communicated what we were seeing as we traveled from the town of Ercolano to the parking area at the Vesuvius National Park. Booking online was easy.

We booked the bus transfer and everything went to plan - air-conditioning and no complaints! The 2hrs you have on site is more than enough time.

- Timing: The bus was supposed to be operating starting at 9 am. Our ticket had 9:30 am as time slot. The bus left at 9:55 am. Neither us nor anyone else was informed about the delay. Entry into the National Park after our time slot there was no problem fortunately.

My review is ambivalent. We bought our tickets in advance and online. The shuttle up to Vesuvius was delayed by about 10 to 20 minutes. The hike to the top and back takes more than an hour and a half, but it can be done comfortably if you have enough time. Because of the initial delay, we were late getting back down, and the bus had already left without us. The problem was that the next bus didn’t want to take us back to Ercolano. Fortunately, thanks to the help of a crew member from the company, the following one did.

We got there 15 mins earlier and we have been told to wait outside for the bus.
The bus arrived (5 mins late) - please note it was the last journey going up. We thought we will just hop in and go, but no chance-the driver just walked out of the bus and disappeared for like 10 mins. Someone else came and told us another driver will take us to Vesuvius. It took 5 more mins and the driver arrives. We get on the bus, and start our journey, after just 4 mins we were going back, and told to get off and the first guy with the coach was waiting for us. Another 7 mins are vanishing without any type of explanation (actually they were bringing more people) at this point we were supposed to be on Vesuvius already and we just started our journey.
We were nearly there to miss our entry because of this stupid delays.
Communication was 0 ZERO , no apology no explanation of what is going on.
I would strongly advise of avoiding this company. We pay and we need to be treated with respect!

Booking online was easy, bus pick up point right outside the station with a small café right next door, very convenient. The drive up the volcano has lots of tight turns and narrow pass spots however the driver is very familiar with these roads and I never felt unsafe the whole journey. We had plenty of time at the top to walk all the way to the peak and back down with lots of photo stops. A really good value way of getting to and from the mount and would use again.

The shuttle service is for every recommendation. Had a nice ride and no difficulties while booking.

We already had tickets for the cone and just booked the bus.

We had bought advance tickets for the 9.30 bus and got to the stop at about 9.20 to find a big queue, and a number of us with tickets for 9.30 didn't get on the bus. Much annoyance amongst those left behind at the prospect of waiting till 10, but they put on another bus and we were off by about 9.40.

The journey up was fine. We had 2 hours at the top (the bus driver told us when he'd be back, I'm not sure if you could get a different one back down) and I'd been concerned that this wouldn't be enough, but in fact it was plenty.

The transfer was nice but the driver told us that he was going to pick us up at 13:20, and we arrived at 11:40 at the entrance of the Park. 1h and 40min was simply not enough to go all the way up, see everything calmly and going down. We were in a rush to be at the entrance at the scheduled time. There should be time enough to see the crater calmly, take pictures, etc. We would have found the experience much better if there was about 2h:30m from the drop off to the pick up. The rest was great.

Although the coach drivers were very good, we were left on the coach park at the top of the Vesuvio on our way back. We were finally offered to take a bus to Ercolano but we didn't have a seat and were left far from the station. I wouldn't recommend Vesuvio Express.

A wonderful drive up the winding mountain road, the driver manoeuvring the bus as if it were a Mini. On time.

Volcano was closed at our pre booked time due to weather. Thankfully Vesuvius express moved us to a later coach at no extra cost.
Driver was good and got us there and back promptly.

Le bus se trouvait à l'heure au rendez-vous devant le bureau de Vésuvio Express. Le chauffeur expérimenté a conduit avec prudence et assurance. Ce transfert est d'autant plus intéressant qu'en voiture le parking est assez éloigné de l'entrée du Vésuve.

Il a pris le temps de nous expliquer la vue et de nous indiquer où se trouvait le site archéologique d’Herculanum, que nous avons visité par la suite. Toujours souriant et attentionné, il a rendu ce transfert vraiment agréable. Un grand merci à lui !

Abbiamo preso l'autobus per andare da Ercolano al Vesuvio. L'autista era molto simpatico e aveva una guida particolarmente piacevole. Si è preso il tempo di spiegarci il panorama e di indicarci dove si trovava il sito archeologico di Ercolano, che abbiamo visitato subito dopo. Sempre sorridente e premuroso, ha reso il trasferimento davvero piacevole. Un grande grazie a lui!

I booked the ticket online some days before arrival to Ercolano. The depart station to Vesuvius is in the city centre. Bus arrived on time. There is 90 minutes of sightseeing time on the crater, after which you have to get back to the bus. If you want to go to the crater by car, you have to book a parking space before the trip and you have a lot more uphill to walk, so Vesuvio Express is much more convenient. Overall, I am very satisfied

If you dont want to explore a lot, this is the easiest way to get to the top as close as possible with transport. The road is poor, drivers are very skilled, but I personally was not feeling well on the way back.
I recommend you to buy the tickets for the entrance, as they are cheaper than elsewhere, and they are often NOT available at the official site

The bus was full, so they had to arrange extra one. They knew this in advance of course, since they know the number of places in the bus and the number of tickets sold. The extra bus came in about 6 minutes, but in all we were 10 minutes late. No big deal normally, but we had a timeslot for the Vesuvius and if you're more than 10 minutes late you have to buy new tickets if there are any left and via very weak WiFi. We ran to the entrance and were just in time, but it was rather stressfull. Apart from that good trip.

The coach was on time in both directions. It leaves from a convenient location (Ercolano train station) which is well marked with large signs. Decent value, well organised.

Was initially worried due to the mixed reviews online but the vesuvio express did exactly the job. The check in process was easy, I had bought tickets online beforehand. The bus left on time and we had 2 hours at the top which was more than enough. Return Bus departed on time and all in all was fantastic experience.

The experience went smoothly for my husband and I, who purchased just the bus tickets. The bus left on time (the first bus, 09:30) and was waiting for us at the scheduled time. I wish you could take a later bus back to have more time, but I couldn’t find that option with any transportation service. I would recommend this as it was cheap and efficient.

The ride was pleasant, the bus was air-conditioned. The time allocated for sightseeing was appropriate. The return trip also went smoothly. I would recommend to book the transfer from Ecolarno Station to Vesuvio and back. It was clear where to go and when to come back to the Shuttle after visiting the volcano. Just be aware: the duration from exit the bus at Vesuvio Park, walking up to the caldera and around is quite short - roughly 1,5 hours.

The round trip was carried out according to the schedules posted. Regarding the reservation I made from Spain for two trips, which is not permitted, I was told that they would cancel the charge they made to my credit card on September 1 (we went up Vesuvius on 10.09 and today, 28.09, I still haven't received the 24 euros).
The service can be recommended, although it should be noted that this company does not reply to emails asking for clarification from abroad.

The first transfer (to Vesuvio) was comfortable and on time.
But the driver didn't provide precise information about the transfer back to Herculaneum. He just said "last bus 18 o clock". He didn't provide information about other busses. We thougt, if we come (after the Vesuvio visit) to the parking before 5 pm, we will catch a bus at 5 pm or 5:30 pm. Unfortunately there was only bus at 6 pm, so we had to wait with some other tourists more than one hour for the bus to Herculaneum. The transfer back started late, at 6:10 pm and there was no air conditioning on the bus. One person felt unwell and had to get off the bus. It seemed it was because there was no fresh air in the bus.

Booked the 3pm bus expecting to catch the 5:30 back and was told no service at 5:30 and we would have to catch the 6pm meaning we would miss our train.
In the end we found a bus (not versuvio express) which had seats and left at 5:30, so we paid twice for the return journey.

The departure from Ercolano station happened without any problems. The bus ride to the top was as comfortable as any other coach ride.
Only the departure back to Ercolano was a bit disorganized due to a lot of busses flooding the little parking lot. That's not really the fault of Vesuvio Express though.
For 12€ up and down per person (admission to the national park not included) it made for a great value.

I was a bit anxious about using this service after reading a few negative reviews but we had a very good experience. I had booked it in advance which is advisable as it needs to work with the time of your entry ticket to the path to Vesuvius. The coach (very comfortable) left on time-it takes around 30 minutes and we were able to go straight in as although our time slot was 11-50 for entry you can enter around 30 minutes before your allotted time.
I was concerned that we may be rushed and that 2 hours (the bus picks you up 2 hours after arrival) would not be long enough to reach the top and descend (I am quite slow) but in the office at Ercolano station they assured me that was long enough and it was absolutely fine-we were down comfortably in time for the bus which arrived shortly after 1-30.
Definitely recommend-it is very confusing trying to work out how to get to Vesuvius but this worked very well for us and is reasonably priced-the bus picks you up right outside Ecolano Scavi station.

We missed our originally booked transfer, but we could book the following one without any problem or additional cost at the ticket office. The bus drivers were friendly and they kept to the schedule. I would 100% recommend it because it's affordable and it makes approaching Vesuvius much easier.

Punctual, comfortable bus. Had to close my eyes on a few of the bends but that's the nature of a narrow, winding road up a volcano! The driver seemed to know what he was doing... No issue with timings, arrived and left as stated and we had plenty of time to slowly trudge up to the top and back down.

We bought tickets for the 9:10 bus. We arrived on time, but the bus stood without a driver for almost half an hour. In the end, we left only after 9:30. If punctuality is important to you, this service is not for you.

A bus driver who was there from Vesuvio Express that time said that he won’t go anywhere before 19:00, so if we waited for that, we would have to wait 1,5 hours.

Perfectly placed right outside train station, easy to find, toilets available at charge 50c.
Staff were helpful and was well organised.
Bus driver was brilliant, felt safe driving up windy narrow roads, instructions were clear for return journey.

The ticket office is right outside the train station. We booked tickets online and gave the confirmation to the receptionist. She gave us a boarding ticket and explained we'd be shouted when the bus was ready. We got an ice cream next door so that we could sit and chill in an air conditioned room and use the toilet (the one in the office is 50 cents). The ride was full of twists and turns with lots of beeping but we quickly arrived at the destination. The bus arrived two hours later and returned us to the same point. Very quick and easy.

This is the best way to get to the lower car park of Vesuvius from Ercolano. Make sure you take water!

Chiara anche l'indicazione per il rientro. Poi la passeggiata sul Vesuvio molto interessante e godibile. Visto che sul Vesuvio si riescono a trovare guide che fanno circa 30 minuti di spiegazione innmaniera chiara, puntuale e divertente, avere a disposizione 2 ore invece che 90 minuti sarebbe ancora meglio.

Useful service but it does not run on schedule so be warned! My 9.10am bus left at 9.35am with no warning, no reasoning and meant i was late getting to the crater to use my ticket - which are all time sensitive- and climb up in temperatures of 30 degrees+.

Got the 5pm bus. Told me that the last bus leaves at 7pm, so it was a bit of a rush to be honest. My opinion, don’t get the bus at 5pm.

Bus was on time to leave for the Vesuve. Bus was confortable, but AC had difficulty freshening the bus. The only issue we encountered was that the driver gave us a return time of 30 minutes before we really had to be back, he actually arrived 45 minutes after that time. This made us rush to climb and get down the Vesuve.

Took the bus to Vesuvious. Journey was smooth but the bus was quite hot in the mid day sun on the way down. If the air conditioning in the bus, it would have been better. The return to the bus restricted us to 2hrs which is more than sufficient for the walk to top and back but insufficient for the walk round the rim. Maybe company could give options for time to return

Bookings at the local Station included the entrance to the Vesuvio-park! We had to book it separately!

I easily booked the ticket online a day before. After arriving at the meeting place, you have to show your ticket at the cash desk to get a paper ticket. Lo único que en la página venía que te dejaban 2h arriba para poder ver el cráter y solo nos dejaron 1:30h. Que nos dio tiempo, pero la subida es durilla y alguien con poca forma física hubiera andado bastante justo para subir y bajar.

Booked the National park myself so had to be careful to coordinate the timings but worked out fine. Bus left on time. Good views on journey up. Driver held up a piece of paper with return time and we left at that time. Just the right amount of time to walk up steadily take photos etc and walk back fairly briskly.

Not on time, the driver ignored you asking question and walked away. How rude ! Unfortunately, there’s no other option if you want to save money.

The skills of the driver to reach the top of Mount Vesuvius and down safely were amazing. The left on time and gave enough time to venture to the rim of the Mount and back. The time to get to top and back to pickup point may be tight for those that are not used to hiking inclines but the views from the top are amazing.

We went to Vesuvio with this company, the starting point being the small plazza near the railway station in Ercolano. Because there were many people wanting to reach Vesuvio, the tourists' transportation was organized with a bus. Everything went well and after we reached to the vulcano the driver told us how much free time we have on the mountain untill the ride back.

Booking was easy (online, coach only). Attitude towards timing was 'relaxed'... not a problem outbound, if you're laid back, but there was some confusion and twitchiness in the gathered crowd, and it appeared that not every one got on. We were half an hour late at the mountain, and were then told to be back 90 minutes later 'sharp'. Fortunately the mountain ticket has a lot of leeway: you can be 40 minutes early / up to 100 minutes 'late'. It is perfectly possible for a fit person to do the walk and have five minutes at the top in an hour and a half, but it wasn't very relaxing and we worried for those people who took longer to ascend. When we got back, a couple of minutes before the time we'd been given, the bus was already pulling out, and we had to wait half an hour for the next one (which would have been more enjoyably spent up by the caldera). Luckily there was no issue about getting the later bus. It was a wonderful experience to be at the top of Vesuvius, the stream of people is well controlled by the ticketing system there, and well worth it, hence the Fun Factor rating. Also there are lots of drink / rest stops (although only one loo, at the entrance). Vesuvius Express did seem to be the easiest way to do the journey, and the coach was comfortable - just don't be surprised by the timing issues (I wasn't, I'd read plenty of other reviews!)

Booking tickets was simple enough online, with a service desk open nearby Ercolano station as well. You could also book joint tickets for the bus and then to access the top of Vesuvius from this company too (although it is more expensive than if you book them separately).

The main issue comes when waiting for the bus to go to Vesuvius or come back. It is not organised and chaos ensues when the coach driver appears (usually late). A gaggle of people push and shove to get onto the bus, regardless of ticket times etc. and this means the coaches are packed. Going to Vesuvius, children were made to sit on the laps of parents as there wasn’t enough space for the number of tickets they had sold. The seatbelts on the coach do not work either.

We opted not to come back with this company given the chaos. There are multiple other services available to get to and from the top, it’s worth shopping around.

The weather was very bad. Offcourse that is not a fault of Vesuvio Express. But the company must have known that the National Park would be closed when we arrived at the top. When we get back, they said there would be no refund, because they to took us up & down. But it was not necessary to take us up & down for nothing.
And beside this; the bus was very uncomfortable with no ventilation or airco.

On the way to go everything was just perfect. Bus on time. But the return was just a real nightmare!!! We went through a storm while at vesuvio. The evacuation of the site was decided. We never managed to get our bus back… Everybody was just taking any bus they can to flee the place. Strong wind and pouring down rain. We had to stay outside and it was a nightmare. We were all freeing and soaking wet and there were not enough buses to get everybody away. We waited one hour and a half before a private bus with a group from another company accepted to get us back to Herculaneum!!! We never had a bus back from vesuvio express! No information while waiting in the storm. No internet and no phone up there so impossible to join the company. No excuses afterwards and no refund!!! A shame!!! A very bad experience!

The bus has always been very late. At least we had 1 hour 20 Minutes to go to Vesuvio and back. Not funny.

Expérience avril 2024.
J'avais réservé le Vesuvio Express pour 16h sur le site https://www.vesuvioexpress.it/ et séparément, l'entrée au Vésuve à 16h30 sur le site https://vesuviopark.vivaticket.it/. Il faut être bien à l'heure pour le Vesuvio Express. Pour l'entrée au Vésuve, il y a une marge de 40 minutes avant l'heure de réservation et 100 minutes après. Cela revenait moins cher pour 1 adulte et 3 jeunes de moins de 18 ans de réserver séparément sur ces deux sites que tout ensemble (12€ par personne pour le Vesuvio Express + 11,68 € adulte et 9,55 € jeune pour l'entrée au Vésuve). Tout s'est parfaitement bien déroulé. Le bus du Vesuvio Express se prend sur la piazzale Stazione à Ercolano (juste à côté de l'arrêt de train "Ercolano Scavi" qui arrive de Napoli ou de Sorrente). Le bus est parti à l'heure à quelques minutes prêt. Nous sommes arrivés au Vésuve vers 16h35. La durée de la montée en bus peut varier en fonction de la circulation. En effet, la route n'est pas très large. Il faut parfois s'arrêter pour laisser passer d'autres bus qui redescendent. Quand il nous a déposé, le chauffeur nous a indiqué que nous devions être de retour au bus à 18h. Ensuite, nous avons mis environ 30 minutes pour monter à pied jusqu'au cratère, puis environ 30 minutes sur place et 25 minutes pour redescendre à pied et revenir au bus. Il ne faut pas trainer mais c'est suffisant. Sur place, on peut admirer le cratère et en faire un peu le tour (c'est un cul de sac). Cela permet d'avoir une vue d'abord sur Napoli, Ercolano (Herculanum) puis de l'autre côté sur Sorrente, Pompéi. La vue était dégagée. C'est vraiment très beau. On a senti une légère odeur de soufre et on a vu de la fumée sortir. Nous étions de retour à Ercolano Scavi à 18h45. C'était une belle expérience.

Walking around volcano crater was exciting , but our bus could not go down the hill because technical problem . Furthermore his tires was not correct ( hopefully it was not raining !)

The bus wouldn't start, and we waited for a whole hour for another one to come pick us up. Due to heavy traffic, we ended up being significantly delayed in returning, which I understand is not the company's fault. However, I assume they were aware of the situation and could have informed us so that we could adjust our schedule accordingly.

The booking of the four tickets online was easy. On the day, however, we ended up waiting 30 min for the arrival of the bus; apparently the previous bus broke down, and they needed to provide a replacement. Unfortunately, nobody informed us during the waiting. The rest went fine. Roughly half an hour to get to the top in the coach, 2 hours approx in the park to walk to the rim and back, an another half an hour in the coach to get us back to the starting point. All in all a very enjoyable experience. The walk is not demanding, and the views are great.

The return trip was a mess. It was difficult to understand which bus was ours. Would be good if there were numbers on the busses or particular places for the different busses at the top of Vesuvius.

After some reviews on the website we had some doubts that transfer will be smooth, however all steps from the registration to final transfer was good:
Office is located near the train station and it's super easy to find it.
Bus was in time in both directions.
I do recommend to book in advance to guarantee the seats, especially if you go with family.

After reading other reviews, I was apprehensive, but everything went absolutely smooth and according to description.

We had plenty of time to hike up, walk around the crater and back without time pressure, have lunch at the top, and walk back.
The return bus was on time (ok, maybe 10 min late, but in Italy this is totally to be expected).

We waited 3 hours (almost 4) for the bus, First it was raining - ok, they could not travel because the park was closed. Then they opened the park but we had to wait 2 hours because the driver of the bus was still sleeping or something. In the meanwhile they had 3 smaller buses and 4 drivers that just talked to each other. Then when the bus was finally coming, they did not tell us from where to catch it. The staff was rude and they didn't tell us at all what's happening.
Finally, it turned out there is a public transport bus from Pompeii that's 4 times cheaper, but everyone is hiding it - even the official website of the park statutes that Vesuvio express is the only transport.
The bus was not that bad but at least they could have told us that it's going to be late so we didn't wait there the whole time.

A bit disappointed in the shuttle experience, but it got me from point A to point B and back. Easy to exchange digital ticket for paper ticket in the office. Bus left 40 minutes after the time slot I reserved. I understand in low season they wait for a bus to fill up to maximize profits, but please reduce the available time options to buy accordingly. I ended up waiting around for nearly an hour to depart after racing there from the Portici train station. Would have made it to the top at the same time taking the slower local €2 EAV bus. The seats were comfortable, but the USB outlets, A/C and reading lights did not work. No stop on the way up as advertised. When we got to the top the driver advised everyone to run straight to the entrance because some of the tickets were minutes from expiring, which would deny entry (both those Vesuvius Express provided as the package deal, and the ones people purchased separately planning for an on time departure). We had just enough time to walk to the top, snap a few pics, and walk fast back down to the gate. On the way down our shuttle hit a car. The woman chased us down and we waited in the middle of the road while everything got sorted out between them. It seemed like a non-event for the driver, but he was arguing loudly with someone on the phone for the final 10 minutes of the ride. For awareness, we were dropped off around 5 minutes downhill from where we were picked up by the train station. Not a problem for me, but it was voiced as a bit of an inconvenience for the older folk in our bus who were already exhausted from the hike at the top. Overall ok experience, but next time we will save the extra 10€ each and take the public bus to have more flexibility in our time to stay at the top.

Vesuvio Express provides reliable and relatively inexpensive transport to the park entrance at Vesuvius...but it isn't perfect. While quite easy to find (located just outside of the train station), there seems to be a lot of miscommunication within the company. For starters, we ordered our tickets online for a 9:10am bus, but when we got there they told us that the bus wasn't until 9:30am. I also double-confirmed with the lady at the desk regarding how much time we would have on the volcano; she told me (twice) that we would have two hours to explore once we were dropped off. This matched the information provided on the website. Upon reaching the park, however, the driver told us to return within 1 hour and 30 minutes. That half hour definitely matters, especially for individuals who might need/use more time to complete the ascent to the crater.

It's also important to realize that the standard Vesuvio Express tickets do not include entrance to Vesuvius. You will need to purchase these tickets separately before driving up the mountain. Vesuvio Express does offer a combo ticket, but we purchased our tickets directly from the park website as I was worried the specific timeslot we wanted would sell out.

Overall, using Vesuvio Express is a pretty good option. I'm giving it four stars for convenience, but keep in mind that you may not have the full two hours they advertise.

I pre booked online for Vesuvio transfer. Was shown to the coach at my allocated time. Drive up was smooth with incredible views. Perfect amount of time on the volcano. Pick up/drop off point is a stones throw from Ercolano scavi train station. Exceptional value for money. Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect service.

nice and clean bus. but prices could be lower, at least for young people :-) Otherwise, if it's cloudy, you can't see almost anything on Vesuvius...

The buying process in easy and intuitive.
I had questions about the trip, however nobody has ever came back to me with an answer.
Also, the price for the transfer is high, if you compare it with other options.

I was trying to reach the company via WhatsApp and Email, just to ask for some help about booking, since the whole process of reaching Vesuvio looks so complicated online... but no one ever answered, not a single message! If they did, they would save us a lot of stress and anxiety, leaving a lot of personal data online (including passport numbers, which is completely not necessary!). When we finally registered to both their website and Vesuvio official website, and bought everything we need (transfer + park tickets separately), we decided to go to Ercolano and see what happens.
In their office, to French people bought it all for 25€ on the spot, they were care free, they didn't feel stressed for the past two days. If only we knew that we can buy both transfer and Vesuvio tickets in their Ercolano office our mood would be much better!
Bus departed at 9.30 with few empty seats, the ride was smooth even though the weather was terrible, foggy and rainy. Bus back departed at 12.20 instead of 12h sharp, we were sitting in the bus with no reason. We could spend more time up on the mountain if we knew...

Overall, great transfer option!
You CAN buy tickets in their office in Ercolano, don't bother registering online. Oh, and bring cash because they don't accept cards (internet working flawlessly in Ercolano, we spent 45min having coffee in the bar in front, so no reason to not accept cards).
We strongly suggest that you, as a company, start respecting your clients and answer their questions (you say on your website that we can ask for help, but you provide no help). Cashier in the office is also pretty cold and uninterested to provide info.

We found Vesuvio Express service great! Exceptional driver :)

You can buy Vesuvius crater tickets directly for about 11,68, or through a re-seller like this for 18,00. I bought them directly and saved a few euros, but I admit that finding and navigating the official website is not straightforward.

Regardless of where you buy your crater tickets, you can get to Vesuvius either via the Vesuvius Express (12,00) or the 808 bus (probably less), or by driving yourself (not an easy drive). I opted for the Vesuvius Express because the schedule was better, but I mention both options in case you miss a bus and need both options.

The transfer worked, but was disorganized. Firstly, they could provide better instructions about where to go (west end of the parking lot just south of the station). Secondly, when I checked in, they told me I needed to exchange my electronic ticket for a paper ticket at the east end of the parking lot. Of course there were twenty of us trying to do that all at the same time, which completely defeats the purpose of buying a skip-the-line ticket. Note that this was just for the bus ticket, as the bus driver handed out separate paper crater tickets to the people who reserved both. I somehow made it onto the first bus, which left on schedule. As there were many people still waiting, I assume there was a second bus that left a few minutes later, but I cannot confirm (you can read the other reviews to figure that out). We then went to Vesuvius for two hours, and the bus left Vesuvius on time for the return transfer. However, we seemed to have gained 2 or 3 passengers on the return trip and the bus was overfull (though they still let everyone on).

Overall, I cannot think of a better way to visit Vesuvius, but again, this could be more organized.

Lo cierto es que existen otras combinaciones más baratas, por 3 euros hay otros autobuses que van desde Pompeya a la parada del Vesuvio a 1000m. No lo recomiendo, al igual que no fue puntual. Reservamos una hora de salida y luego fue mas tarde. Después, solo había una hora para la vuelta. A diferencia del resto de compañías más baratas que tienen mayor frecuencia. Nosotros lo usamos en diciembre, seguramente en verano es otra historia. Pero con gusto me hubiera ahorrado ese dinero, si lo hubiera sabido.

Really convenient service which goes from right outside Ercolano rail station. Gets busy so well worth booking in advance. Takes you right up to the entrance to the path up Vesuvius. Respect to the drivers who somehow manage to get a full size coach safely up the volcano!

My wife and I booked the 3 PM transfer to make the most of our last hours at Vesuvius, which closed at 5 PM. Unfortunately, the bus only departed at 3:35 PM for no apparent reason, as the bus was ready and the driver was in the office, seemingly waiting for something unknown.
Consequently, we arrived at 4 PM and had only a few minutes to explore Vesuvius, as the driver made it very clear upon our arrival that the bus would leave precisely at 5 PM. And it did.
At least the trip was fun and the constant honking was somewhat interesting.

Pick up right outside Ercolano train station where the office is also located. Direct to Vesuvius and return to starting location. Comfortable and punctual experience. We purchased the coach journey only but they also sell Vesuvius entry tickets. Good service
